Family law attorney Rob Wellon invited Marty Varon and Dan Branch to participate as financial experts in his Civil Trial Practice class at Emory Law School. In this class, third year students serve as the attorneys in a mock family law case that includes issues related to alimony, child support, child custody, and equitable distribution of asset issues. The scenario: one spouse owns a dental practice and each side has an opposing expert opinion with respect to the valuation of the practice.
Partners, Marty and Dan, served as opposing experts in four different cases/sessions and were both examined and cross-examined by different students. The mock trials took place at Dekalb State and Superior Court in front various Superior, Juvenile Court judges or Judicial Officers & Magistrate and juries of metro County citizens. As his second year participating in Rob Wellon’s mock trial, Marty stated, “These Emory students are great – so prepared and intelligent!” Both Dan and Marty were highly impressed with the court room familiarity each of the students demonstrated in a close-to-real world trial.
